A humble beginning in Glens Falls, NY
John was born on May 29, 1970 in Glens Falls, NY to the late John and Mary (O’Brien) Marcantonio. He graduated from South Glens Falls in 1988 and went on to study business administration at SUNY Adirondack, where he earned his AS in 1990. He continued his education at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica/Rome, where he received his BS in Business Administration in 1992.
A Love Story: John and Shelly
In 2004, fate brought John and Shelly (Howard) together at Keena Staffing Inc., and on May 14, 2005, they tied the knot. Their 18-year marriage filled John with great pride, even greater than the joy he felt at being the father of their son Christopher.
A career full of passion
John’s career began at International Paper in Corinth, NY and later, in 2003, he joined Keena Staffing Inc. as Sales Manager. With his outgoing personality and passion for the community, he soon served as Membership Manager for the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce and later as Membership Director for the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. His love of connecting with people led to him becoming a well-known and popular figure in the communities he came into contact with.
A life full of passion: golf and nature
An avid golfer, John has held the title of Club Champion at Tee Bird Golf Course for three consecutive years. Golf not only brought him joy, but also lifelong friendships. He reached a personal milestone on July 13, 2018, when he hit his first hole-in-one at Queensbury Country Club. Aside from golf, John loved hiking and in 2018 he finished 11,099. man all 46 major peaks of the Adirondacks and earned the title of a 46er.
We are committed to the fight against Alzheimer’s
In 2013, John’s mother, Mary, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which inspired him to take an active role in raising awareness and fundraising for the cause. He participated in several fundraisers, eventually taking on the roles of Walk Champion and Longest Day Champion of the Alzheimer’s Association. His dedication was recognized when he received the Volunteer of the Year award in 2019. Merging his passion for hiking with his desire to help, he started the fundraiser Alzheimer’s Paint the Peaks Purple and made another positive impact on the community.
A family man and sports enthusiast
John’s love for his family knew no bounds. He was deeply involved in his son Christopher’s life, coaching his baseball teams and supporting his interests. Together they have made it their goal to visit all major league baseball stadiums and create treasured memories along the way. Annual family outings and baseball and swimming get-togethers were highlights of her life. Her home has always been a warm and welcoming place for friends and family.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glens Falls, NY followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls, NY. A celebration of life will follow the funeral at the Queensbury Hotel, Glens Falls, NY.
